March 2026

A landmark international grant was signed on February 18, 2026, in Abuja, between the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). The $16.61 million agreement launches the third phase of the TAAT program, which scales climate-resilient agricultural technologies across Nigeria. This funding supports local NGOs and seed systems to boost crop yields. Additionally, while the withdrawal of certain USAID programs has created challenges, the Gavi Alliance and the Global Fund maintained significant grant disbursements throughout late 2025 and early 2026, specifically targeting Nigerian NGOs working on HPV vaccine rollout and HIV/AIDS prevention.
